The Musicians

Andria Fennig, pianist, received her doctorate of music in piano performance from Arizona State University in 2002.  She served as a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Piano and Theory at the University of Hawaii, Manoa in 2001-02. Currently, Ms. Fennig resides in Phoenix, where she is performing extensively nationally and internationally in new music ensembles, Broadway theatre pits, and chamber music organizations.  She is serving as Coach-Accompanist with the Arizona Opera Company performing for several educational outreach and fund-raising activities.  Highlighted recent performances have included J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 with the Honolulu Symphony, Pictures at an Exhibition with the Phoenix Symphony, and at the PASIC International Conference in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to her classical endeavors, she also regularly performs as a pit musician for several Broadway touring productions including Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Altar Boyz. Ms. Fennig is an avid promoter and performer of avant-garde chamber repertoire performing regularly with KRUSTA, Crossing 32nd Street, and LINKS ensembles: three chamber ensembles devoted to the performance and appreciation of recently composed works for numerous instrumentation combinations.  Ms. Fennig presently teaches a large studio of private pupils of all ages and abilities, and is a piano instructor at Mesa Community College. 
Christina Steffen, flutist, has appeared as a soloist and with chamber ensembles for many concerts and music festivals throughout the U.S., England and Switzerland. She performs with the chamber group, Paradisa! and with Bella Dolce, a flute and harp duo Paula Provo who plays principal harp with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra. Christina plays for the National Broadway tours at Gammage in Tempe (Wicked, Mary Poppins, Billy Elliott) and for entertainers (Bernadette Peters, Natalie Cole, The Temptations and Michael Feinstein) as well as for commercial recordings including PBS Horizon, The United Way, Del Webb, HBO and many CD projects.

 

Ms. Steffen is the founder and music director of Arizona’s premiere flute performance organization, Desert Echoes Flute Project (www.defproject.org) sponsored by Mesa Community College where she is the flute instructor. Christina teaches flute, Music in World Cultures, and Jazz History at Paradise Valley Community College and teaches flute at Scottsdale Community College. She presents clinics and master classes for all levels and has taught at several music camps including the NAU Curry Summer Music Camp. Christina is known for her captivating presentation of “Flutes and Flute Music Around the World.” She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in flute performance from the University of Arizona School of Music. Christina is a National Director for the Theatre Musicians Association and is Vice-President/Program Chair for the Arizona Flute Society where she was instrumental in establishing the AFS Flute Camp for flutists of all ages and the Autumn Affair to raise money for scholarships and educational opportunities for young flutists. She appeared on the cover of Kudos magazine with Paradisa!, was featured in a recent article in the Arizona Republic, and has been invited to perform concerts in Australia next season.
